Shoeless Weekend
Shoeless weekend took place on the 14Th & 15th of Dec. Parishioners were asked to bring a new pair of shoes to Mass with them. The shoes were donated to the St. Vincent De Paul, Simon, Brother Kevin and Fr. Peter McVerry who were delighted to distribute them to those in need.

Also the children in St. Columba's NS collected shoes from various famous people (including Michael Flatley) which they displayed in the Church and which were then auctioned. Thank you and congratulations to all who helped out with this wonderful event. Service Saturday
23rd November 2013
Congratulations to all who helped make "Service Saturday" such a huge success
This was the second Service Saturday in our parish and it was a great opportunity for us to come together as a community to meet, greet , help and be helped
Mr Fixit
Throughout the day the Mr Fixit team carried out small maintenance jobs throughout the parish – fitting locks, cleaning gardens, windows and gutters and fixing minor electrical problems.
Afternoon Tea
At 4.30 in the parish house there was a gathering of senior parishioners and Former parishioners for tea, cake and loads of chat. Betty O’Brien and her team prepared a fine spread and a good time was had by all.

It’s a Jungle – Get it Out of Here!
Work was carried out on the grounds between the church and the school to make it a much more pleasant vista for the teachers and children of St Columba’s school.
Grotto Freshen Up
Young people from the parish Localise group worked together to freshen up the grotto

Christmas Card Making –
A group of very talented local children were welcomed to St Alphonsus monastery by the sisters to make super seasonal cards which will be sent to friends of the parish for Christmas.

Special Evening Mass - 6.00
The mass was celebrated by Bishop Jim Moriarty and combined aspects of harvest festival, and there was also the anointing of the sick.

Evening Meal – 7.00
This was the grand finale of the day. Men, women and children gathered in the church to enjoy meat straight from the spit, with a moderate libation and lashings of chat.
The committee would like to thank all those who lent their moral and practical support , without them Service Saturday would not have been possible.
